A dozen children ranging in ages from 6 to 15 were injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon in Johnson County.  The Highway Patrol reports Robin Scrutchfield, 56, of Centerview was the driver of a school bus carrying about 50 elementary and secondary school students from the Crest Ridge R-7 District in Centerview.

Investigators said the bus was eastbound on Highway 50 and was attempting to turn at N.W. 271 Road when it was hit in the rear by a vehicle driven by Dustin Frisbee, 34, of Knob Noster. The bus traveled off the roadway where it struck a road sign and a ditch before coming to rest. The Frisbee vehicle came to rest lodged against the rear of the bus.

Frisbee and his passenger, Andrew Horning, 20, of Leeton, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Scrutchfield was uninjured. The twelve children that sustained minor injuries were taken to Western Missouri Medical Center and Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
