Update (12:00 p.m.) – The Highway Patrol has released more information related to Monday morning’s crash on Interstate 35 near Winston. According to the accident report, Luis Deleon, 34, of Wisconsin, was traveling south on the interstate when he was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer driven by John Botts, 62, of Minnesota. The semi crossed the median and came to rest in the northbound lanes, blocking traffic for nearly two hours. Deleon went off the side of the road and overturned. He was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Botts was not hurt.
Update (8:30 a.m.) – The Cameron Police Department said the interstate is open again after a tractor-trailer and vehicle collided Monday morning. “The accident is now clear and traffic has resumed,” the department said in a press release.

The wreck occurred at about 6:15 a.m. “Traffic is being reverted from I-35 at the Cameron city limits to Highway 36 to Highway 69. Drivers can get back on I-35 at the 61 mile marker,” Chubick said.
According to Chubick, injuries have been reported, but the extent of those injuries is not known at this time. Snow is beginning to fall around the area. Chubick is asking drivers to allow extra time for travel and use caution in the area.

I-35 northbound is closed due to a motor vehicle accident just north of US 36 (54 mile marker). Traffic is being re-routed onto US 36 to US 69 northbound (Cameron) to the US 69 North exit (Winston) to re-enter I-35. We do not have an ETA for the re-opening of the interstate.
A tractor trailer involved in an accident is blocking the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at mile marker 60.4. Traffic is being diverted from northbound I-35 at the 54 mile marker onto 69 Highway. Traffic will once again be allowed to travel northbound on Interstate 35 at exit 61; which is the Winston exit.
Officers from multiple agencies are on scene working to clear Interstate 35. The tractor trailer had paper product on board.
