LINN COUNTY, Mo. — A crash just east of Brookfield left a driver from Huntsville with injuries Tuesday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to U.S. 36 Highway, two miles east of Brookfield around 6:23 a.m. Tuesday to reports of a single-vehicle accident.

A car driven by 25-year-old Marissa N. Avila was westbound on 36 when Avila fell asleep at the wheel, sending the car off the right side of the roadway.

The vehicle then hit a guardrail and went down an embankment, where it came to rest.

Avila, who according to the report was not wearing a seat belt, reported minor injuries and was treated at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.
