Accident north of Macon proves fatal

MACON, Mo.- According to reports,  a serious two-vehicle collision occurred earlier this morning in Macon County on Highway 63 that ultimately hindered traffic for hours.

Around 8:30 a.m., a pickup was northbound on Highway 63 when it collided with a tractor trailer head-on.

The driver of the pickup, 62 year old Sterling Owens, of Hannibal was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the semi was reportedly not injured.

Highway 63, as of 1:30 p.m., is now re open to traffic. A complete accident report is not yet available.
