Accident Reported on 116
Update (Sunday 12:30 p.m.): A two vehicle accident in Caldwell county left five people with injuries on Saturday. According to the highway patrol, a vehicle driven by Kenneth Pierson, 49, of Plattsburg was westbound on highway 116 three miles west of Polo when he crossed the centerline and struck a car driven by Richard Day, 54, of Lathrop. Pierson and his wife, Sheri Pierson, 48, were both transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Their daughter, Lorna Pierson, 15, was taken to Liberty Hospital. Day was also transported to Liberty Hospital while his grandson, Aden McDowell, 7, was sent to Children’s Mercy by air ambulance. All injuries from the accident are listed as serious.
A KMZU listener has reported an accident on Highway 116 approximately four miles west of Polo. According to the caller, it appears two vehicles are involved and various emergency and law enforcement crews are on the scene.
