A resident of rural Carroll County has died while out looking for a suspicious vehicle being sought by Carroll County law enforcement. At one point the unidentified man was handing a firearm to an associate outside his vehicle when it discharged, striking the driver in the leg. The victim attempted to drive himself to Carroll County Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Carroll County Sheriff Troy Hofstetter confirmed it was an accident and authorities have contacted family members to notify them of the man’s death. He is identified as Roy Todd Baggs, 51, of Rural Carrollton. Sheriff Hofstetter did say the bullet went through an artery and there was not much medical personnel could do.
