Alcohol Suspected in Early Morning Crash

A two vehicle accident sent a Waverly man to the hospital and then to jail.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports David Michaels, 22, was northbound on Highway 65 in Saline County near Holiday Avenue early Saturday morning when he crossed the centerline and struck a southbound tractor-trailer driven by Richard Ahart, 53, of Tuscumbia, Mo. Ahart was uninjured.

According to the arrest report Michaels was transported to Lexington Hospital with minor injuries after being detained by law enforcement. Following the investigation troopers charged David Michaels with alleged felony leaving the scene of an accident, DWI and no registration.

He was released to the care of medical personnel.
