All-Stars Head to Chillicothe

the U. S. Military All-Star baseball team will play the Chillicothe Mudcats at 5:30 pm on the Fourth. They are barnstorming the country to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. The Military All-Stars are mostly active duty military/first responders with collegiate and professional baseball experience. Patriotic pre-game ceremony begins at 5 pm with the game beginning at 5:30.

Agenda for the All-Stars 

10 am: U. S. Military All-Stars visit Cameron VA Home.

12 noon: All-Stars arrive in Chillicothe…police/fire escort thru downtown Chillicothe and back to Royal Inn Pizza. Veterans, military, first-reponders, general public can greet them at Royal Inn. Trenton Coca-Cola is feeding the 25 member team at Royal Inn.

1:30: All-Stars check in to Days Inn…Days Inn is lodging the All-Stars free of charge. They’ll also provide a complimentary breakfast the next morning.

2 pm to 5 pm: Tailgate party begins at the park across from Shaffer Park. Sgt Heath Corzette and Sgt Brad Gladbach of the local Battery B, 1st of the 129th Field Artillery, Missouri Army National Guard and Trenton Coca-Cola are providing free hot dogs, chips, and cold bottled water. Military equipment will be on display. Military-style merchandise will be for sale. (proceeds go to Wounded Warriors Project) Recruiting tent with information on careers in the National Guard will be there. U. S. Military All-Stars and Chillicothe Mudcats will be present.

3:30 pm: Gates open at Shaffer Park. U. S. Military All-Star batting practice begins.

5:00 pm: Opening ceremonies featuring the U. S. Military All-Stars and local veterans…30 minute military-style ceremony…Mayor Haney and City Adm. Holland make presentation to All-Stars (Mudcat style caps with “C” and an American Flag provided by Ken Lauhoff and Triple J Embroidery)

5:30 pm: Seven inning game begins. Local military/veterans suited up with U. S. Military All-Stars…among them at this point: Colin Parker, Drew Hibner, Heath Corzette, Jameson Black, George Lapraud, Tom Douglas, Vern Wascher, Floyd Gabel…a special 9/11 ceremony during the game…All-Stars provide in-between-inning entertainment — home run derby for the kids and more.

7:30 or so: Game over…pictures, autographs…First Presbyterian Church feeds Military All-Stars

8:45: U. S. Military All-Stars arrive at Simpson Park…perform a couple of ceremonies and mingle with crowd
