A 23-year old man charged with kidnapping, burglary, and forcible rape is now facing one felony count of tampering with a motor vehicle in Carroll County.  Prosecuting Attorney Cassandra Brown filed charges Tuesday against Brian Adkison.  The Columbia resident is accused of stealing a truck from a farm on County Road 211, north of Carrollton, on June 14.  Two days later, Adkison allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend in Caldwell County.   The victim was believed to have been in the truck until she was able to free herself, according to a probable cause statement.

The stolen vehicle was recovered by Blue Springs police following a brief chase on June 17.  A police report said Adkison was able to escape and allegedly stole another vehicle and watercraft.  He was on the run for almost a week and was eventually captured in Morgan County on June 21.  More than 50 officers and a helicopter were involved in the search.

Adkison is being held in a Morgan County Jail.
