ANDREW COUNTY, Mo. — A Union Star teen lost his life in an accident Thursday afternoon in Andrew County.

The Highway Patrol reported investigating a two-vehicle crash on Route M at County Road 229 about six miles northwest of Union Star. A vehicle driven by 16-year-old Zachary T. Richey was westbound on County Road 229 and a tractor operated by Robert D. Hill, 31, of Platte City, was traveling north on Route M.

Richey failed to stop at a sign and stuck a towed unit in the passenger side.

Both vehicles came to rest on Route M and caught fire, according to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Richey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
