Area Cities Begin Enforcement of Snow Ordinances

Update:  The city of Richmond is asking  for all vehicles to be removed from Emergency Snow Routes by 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The ordinance will impact all posted streets, as well as the downtown area.  “We’re asking people to please remove their vehicles from these areas so the street department and the Missouri Department of Transportation can do their job, “said Haney, “We don’t want to bury cars in or have a mess with a bunch of snow stacked up.”

Officials are trying to get a jump-start before the heavy snowfall arrives.  “If we get what’s predicted, it will be a repeat of a couple of years ago which left us in a real mess on our snow emergency streets and also the downtown area, “said Haney, “This is why it will go into effect at 6:00 p.m.  There may not be snow on the ground at that time, but it’s coming.”

Vehicles that are not relocated prior to snow removal may be towed at the owner’s expense.
