Attorney Sentenced to Prison

The sentence; two and a half years for a local attorney involved in a deadly hit and run accident in June of 2010. James Clampitt of Mexico, Missouri was sentenced Thursday following his conviction in January on the charges of involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. The 41-year-old Clampitt was sentenced to 6 months for leaving the scene and 2 years for the involuntary manslaughter. According to online court records Clampitt is also facing two charges of theft/stealing and one count of credit card fraud. He’s scheduled to appear in a Chariton County courtroom for a jury trial September 9th and 10th.
