A pre-trial conference in the case against a Richmond resident has been scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m.  Rebecca Matthews, 24, is accused in the beating death of her child.  Matthews and her husband, Dennis, 25, were arrested after the three-week-old baby died at an area hospital in August 2012.  The coroner’s report listed “blunt force trauma to the chest and internal bleeding” as the cause of death, according to court documents.  The couple was charged on Oct. 19, 2012 with abuse of a child – resulting in death.

Rebecca’s jury trial is expected to start on Sept. 9.  Dennis has a pre-trial conference scheduled for Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.  His trial is tentatively set to begin on Nov. 25.  They are each being held on $500,000 bonds.
