Authorities in Benton County have called off the search for a missing Buckner woman after human remains found near a pond were positively identified as those of Hellen Cook, 72. She had been missing since mid-July. The Missouri State Highway Patrol cancelled the endangered person advisory on Thursday morning.
Cook’s husband told police she disappeared from their vacation home in Warsaw on July 13. Benton County Sheriff Rick Fajen said Wednesday that foul play is not suspected in Cook’s death. Her body was discovered over the weekend in west-central Missouri.
Cook was said to have suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
