Authorities Investigating Fatal Fire

At least one person died in a house fire Friday morning in Lexington.  Firefighters responded to a home in the 900 block of Highland Street around 6 a.m.  A spokesperson for the Lexington Fire Department initially said the blaze claimed the lives of an elderly couple.  Lexington Police Chief Don Rector said a female was pronounced dead at Lafayette Regional Health Center and a male victim was flown to another area hospital.  His condition is not known.  Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade talk with Rector:

The victims’ identities are being withheld at this time.

Additional information is expected to be released later today.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
