At least one person died in a house fire Friday morning in Lexington. Firefighters responded to a home in the 900 block of Highland Street around 6 a.m. A spokesperson for the Lexington Fire Department initially said the blaze claimed the lives of an elderly couple. Lexington Police Chief Don Rector said a female was pronounced dead at Lafayette Regional Health Center and a male victim was flown to another area hospital. His condition is not known. The victims’ identities are being withheld at this time.
Additional information is expected to be released later today.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
