Authorities Release Identity of Teen Found in Lake

A body found floating in a western Missouri lake has been identified.  The Benton County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Friday that DNA tests confirmed the body is that of Khighla Parks, 15, of Willard.  She was last seen Sept. 20 walking near her home in Greene County.  Parks has been described as a runaway. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, but no additional details have been released at this time.  Boaters found the body last Sunday floating in Truman Lake near Warsaw.

On October 5, 2012 through DNA analysis, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab has identified the female homicide victim found in Truman Lake as Khighla L. Parks age 15 of Willard, Missouri.

Khighla Parks was last seen at 5:00 p.m. on 09/20/12 walking in [the] vicinity of her home which is located near North State Hwy AB and West State Hwy EE in NW Greene County.  Khighla Parks body was discover[ed] floating in Truman Lake on 09/30/12.
