Update (3:30 p.m. Friday) – Press Release from the Ray County Sheriff’s Department
On 3-18 -2013 Ray County Sheriff’s Office received a call from concerned neighbors about a burglary on Norris Road. Deputies responded and the suspect had fled the scene prior to our arrival. We received a license plate number from one of the neighbors and tracked that vehicle to a residence near Orrick.
We were unable to locate the suspect at that residence at that time, but Deputies did observe items in plain view that they believe had been stolen from area burglaries. We responded back to the residence the next morning and took the suspect into custody.
After later receiving a search warrant for the residence, we recovered a large amount of stolen items. We have linked these items to (7) seven burglaries within Ray County and (2) two burglaries in Independence, Missouri. We believe we will be able to link some of these items to other area burglaries.
Sheriff Garry Bush would like to Thank the neighbors for watching and calling the Sheriff’s Office of the suspicious activity they witnessed. Without the help of the watchful public our jobs would be much harder.
The suspect Nathan T. Beagley has been charged with 1st Degree Burglary- class B Felony and (3) three counts of stealing each a C Felony. $10,000 bond with no 10% allowed with bond conditions.
Sheriff Garry Bush anticipates more charges to follow after further investigation.
Ray County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone that all parties are assumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
