This was the first appearance for newly-elected members Dan Wilford and Natha McCallister. “They’re going to be a great asset and a great addition to our Board because, as we try to expand, not only from our hospital operations but also from a Foundation perspective, we try to expand outside of Trenton and pride ourselves as a regional facility,” said Osterthun, “They’re going to bring a different perspective from the Jamesport and the Daviess County area, as well as the Laredo and Galt area, as well.”

Tuesday night’s discussion included planning to provide more monies for hospital equipment and technology. “That was, basically, just kind of an ice-breaker discussion. I really was very, very conscious, or wanting to get something started as we approach life after the walking trail. A lot of the Board meetings that we’ve been talking with was predominantly about the walking trail. Well, sometime that project will be complete.”

Osterthun believes the Foundation needs a strategic plan to make sure they continue with their goal of strengthening and developing Wright Memorial Hospital. The Board has started looking at the hospital’s long-term wish list, which will always include equipment.

“Obviously, they break down, or the just get old. And old equipment is not good in a hospital setting, when you’re talking about patient care. So we’re going to continue to have that discussion, and develop some sort of plan to make sure that our general donations fund is equipped and ready to go as far as being able to cater t any of the hospital’s needs that might come up throughout the years.”

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held December 3rd.
