LaCasse says they submitted the grant application back in June.  “The State has a scoring system that they score your grant application on, and they have so many dollars that they can divvy out to people that applied for this grant, and they base who they give it to based on those grant scores,” said LaCasse, “And we were fortunate enough to have one of the higher scores, I believe, and they fully funded our request.”  LaCasse says every dollar brought into the organization helps kids in some way, directly or indirectly.

The grant was $100,000 less than they received last year, and LaCasse said they hope to make it up with volunteerism.  “The award that we got allows us to maintain our services, but it doesn’t move us forward as far as being a sustainable organization,” said LaCasse, “So, donations are always needed, but we’re really happy about the award.”
