The Braymer Bobcats were in Norborne Thursday night for a high school basketball double header.

In the girls contest Norborne jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and would keep extending that lead throughout the first half. The Lady Cats were continuously disrupted by the full court press; even when Braymer got down into Norborne territory the relentless defense by the Lady Pirates kept them from capitalizing on their possessions.

At halftime Braymer trailed Norborne 24-6

The full court pressure continued and Senior Cheyanne Baxter kept rolling and adding to her career 1,020 points to go on and score 19 more before the night was through. Senior Kalea Wood was next in scoring for the Lady Pirates with 12 and Braymer fell to Norborne 45-15. Braymer was led in scoring by Madison Mallory and Anna O’Brien who would both finish the night with 4 each.

The Lady Cats fall to 2-1 while the Lady Pirates are now 5-0.

In the boys game the situations were reversed as the Bobcats would take an early lead and dominate the Pirates. Again, full court pressure was to the advantage of the winning team as Braymer would force countless turnovers led by Jesse Utt and Logan O’Dell. The Bobcats would go on to a 60-32 victory, putting them at 3-0 on the season. The Bobcats leading scorer was Jesse Utt with 19, followed by Logan O’Dell who put up 13 points. Norborne was led by Chilton Elliott and Tristan McNelly who both put up 6. Norborne falls to 0-2.
