Highway 24 in Carroll County opened after fatal crash

UPDATE: (01/12/19, 3:34 a.m.) – The wintery weather caused the death of a Carrollton woman during a collision in Carroll County Friday afternoon. The Missouri Highway Patrol investigated the crash on 24 Highway, West of County Road 335, just after 3:00 p.m yesterday afternoon. The report says Hope Wilson, 32, lost control on westbound Highway 24 and slid broadside into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by  Gabriel Zamarripa, 55, of Marshall. Wilson died at the scene and Zamarripa was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital with moderate injuries. Both driver were wearing their seat belts.

UPDATE:  5 p.m. – The roadway is back open at the scene of a crash reported on 24 Highway, east of 139 junction.  The accident, described by Highway Patrol as a fatal crash, was originally reported in the 3 p.m. hour. The debris and response blocked traffic east of Route 139.

Highway Patrol is still investigating. The names of people involved have not yet been released.

CARROLL COUNTY, MO – A three car pileup was reported on 24 Highway just east of Leta junction in the 3 p.m. hour.

According to eyewitnesses, the crash in the westbound lane of 24 is blocking traffic east of Route 139. First responders are on scene. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes around the crash at WB 24 just east of 139 junction. Dispatchers in Carroll County have been informed 24 will be closed by authorities until further notice.
