BREAKING NEWS — Suspect arrested in connection to Saturday night shooting in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. — A suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Columbia this past weekend.

Damian Ramon Davies, 20, was shot on Saturday evening in the 2700 block of Quail Drive in Columbia. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Willie Lee-Jacari Higgins, 23, was arrested yesterday night in connection to Saturday’s shooting. Higgins is from Bangor, Michigan where he is a convicted felon. An investigation by the Columbia Police Department found Higgins to be in possession of the firearm that was believed to be used in Saturday’s incident. Higgins has been preliminarily charged with felony unlawful for certain persons to possess concealable firearm and felony tampering with physical evidence. Bond information is not available at this time.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances that led up to Davis sustaining the gunshot wound.
