Bridge Opening Postponed

The Missouri Department of Transportation has postponed the opening of its final project in the Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program.  A ceremony for the Highway 11 Bridge north of Mendon had been scheduled for Monday, October 29th, but has now been cancelled for the time being.  The postponement is due to weather and construction delays.

ST. JOSEPH – The Missouri Department of Transportation’s Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program that began in the spring of 2009 to improve more than 800 Missouri bridges is coming to a close, two years ahead of schedule. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the final bridge in the program – the Route 11 Bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Chariton County – has been postponed. Due to weather and construction delays, the ceremony, which was originally scheduled for Monday, October 29, 2012, has been postponed. The new date for the ceremony is to be determined.
