Since the program began in September 2011, KMZU has chronicled the lives of our service men. We are honored today to welcome our first female veteran.

It was a little more than 9 ½ years ago that President George W. Bush announced the start of the Iraq War. The President, in a televised address on March 19, 2003, told the nation that coalition forces had begun striking “selected targets of military importance to undermine Saddam Hussein’s ability to wage war.”

In 2009 and ten months after she had given birth to her first child, Brooke Ahart, of Richmond, received her orders.  Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade talk with Ahart:
