BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. — An accident south of St. Joseph sent two people to an area hospital, one in critical condition, Wednesday morning.

The Highway Patrol reported responding to Route V, six miles south of St. Joseph at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a single vehicle rollover crash.

Upon arrival, investigators found that a vehicle driven by Mary R. Anderson, 52, of St. Joseph, was southbound on V when the vehicle crossed the center line of the ice-covered roadway.

Anderson over-corrected, causing the car to run off the right side of the roadway and hit an embankment. The vehicle then rolled over several times before coming to rest on its top.

Anderson, who was not wearing a seat belt, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care for treatment.

A passenger in the car, 58-year-old Daniel W. Anderson, also of St. Joseph, suffered serious injuries in the crash. The report says he was not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened either.  He was flown by air ambulance to Mosaic Life Care to receive care.
