Update: It was just about the best outcome anybody could hope for. Fire crews responded to a report of a home ablaze on Highway M in Ray County Thursday afternoon. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Lawson Fire Chief Richard Nolker:
“Upon our arrival, we found that the fire was already extinguished by the homeowner,” said Nolker. “Which it didn’t amount to anything more than a flue fire. There was no apparent damage to anything, unless it did crack the flue from them putting water on it. Other than that, everybody was okay, no structural damage, and we returned to the station.”
Mutual aid was called in because it’s the standard procedure when responding to a structure fire. However, most were sent home before they even reached the scene.
