A Stewartsville resident was seriously injured in a Caldwell County Crash Wednesday morning.

According to the Highway Patrol, two vehicles were traveling southbound on I-35 around 5:30 this morning, when Randall Wooden, 49, of Parkville, fell asleep.  His tractor-trailer then struck the rear of the car driven by Edith Smith, 85.  This caused her vehicle to travel off the side of the road, strike a tree, and overturn.

Smith was transported to Liberty Hospital with serious injuries.  Wooden was not harmed.
