California man killed after being hit by vehicle near Moberly early Tuesday

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. — A pedestrian was struck and killed just east of Moberly early Tuesday morning.

The Highway Patrol said the incident occurred on 24 Highway a mile east of Moberly at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A car driven by Jeffery L. Mundy, 51, of Monroe City, was reportedly westbound on 24 Highway when he hit a pedestrian, identified as 53-year-old Adelanto, California resident Glen A. Wear.

Wear was standing in the westbound lane of the roadway after his vehicle was disabled, according to the Highway Patrol’s report.

Wear was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, where he was pronounced dead at 3:49 a.m.
