MOBERLY, MO – Moberly police are denying that Animal Control officers placed a dead dog in a trash dumpster.

Social media posts reportedly accuse officers of trashing a deceased dog last week in the aftermath of a chase to hunt down a dog reported missing. A dead dog was found in a dumpster near the National Guard Armory located and reported by one employee. However, police question whether it was the same as the missing dog briefly chased by Animal Control officers who failed to catch it.

Police said Monday, the accusatory social media posts are incorrect. They also request anyone with information to contact the department.
