Car Chase Nets Two Arrests

Two Knob Noster residents were arrested in Johnson County following a pursuit Wednesday afternoon.  According to the Highway Patrol, troopers took Darren Atkins, 25, and Amanda Sanders, 25, into custody in the 5:00 hour.  Sanders was wanted on a felony warrant out of Kansas City.  Atkins had a felony warrant out of Johnson County, Kansas.  He also faces a charge of felony fleeing, two counts of child endangerment, and two counts of careless and imprudent driving.  They were both taken to the Pettis County Jail.

A Highway Patrol car sustained minor damage during yesterday’s car chase.  Steven Force, 41, was southbound on Sunshine Lane when he got out of his patrol car to run after a subject. The Highway Patrol reports Force did not properly park the vehicle and it rolled into a chain-link fence.  The damage is estimated to be worth $1,000.
