The Henry County Sheriff’s office reports two of it’s officers noticed a 1984 Chevy Camaro traveling down South Smith Street in Windsor with expired plates and attempted to make a traffic stop Monday morning. The Camaro sped off and was chased through several blocks until the suspect abandoned the car and took off on foot.

The vehicle was discovered to be stolen; apparently an hour earlier in Benton County. After the foot pursuit, 30-year-old Jeffery F. Knifong of Sedalia was taken into custody; however, he supplied a false identity at the time of the arrest. Knifong now faces charges of resisting arrest and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.

Additional charges of giving a false identity are possible pending the investigation. He’s being held in the Henry County Jail.
