Dennis Matthews, 27, and Rebecca Matthews, 26, were charged with abuse of a child resulting in death after their infant daughter died in August of 2012. At the time, the coroner’s report listed the cause of death as “blunt force trauma to the chest and internal bleeding”.

On Tuesday, multiple charges of child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child were filed against both parents. According to the probable cause statement, they are accused of exposing their older children to boa constrictors, pythons, komodo dragons and alligators that were not safely caged.

Rebecca Matthews is also accused of leaving the children in a vehicle when the temperature was over 100 degrees, and both face one count of knowingly inflicting cruel and inhumane punishment by breaking the arm of one of their children.

Further court proceedings have not yet been scheduled for the couple. Bond for Rebecca Matthews is set at $200,000 while Dennis Matthews is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
