A body found in Cooper County on Crab Orchard Road Wednesday was identified Friday by the county sheriff’s office following an autopsy.

The investigation has led to the arrest of Bryant L. Holmes, 23, of Columbia. Holmes is charged with alleged first degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Satina Beckner, 32, of Columbia.

The autopsy determined Beckner died due to blunt force trauma. The Copper County Sheriff’s Office reports that the motive is unknown at this time, but it is believed the victim and Holmes had an on again, off again relationship over the past few years.

Holmes is being held in the Cooper County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He is due in Cooper Co. Court on October 22nd for a counsel status hearing.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in their investigation by the Columbia Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
