Charges have been filed in Chariton and Carroll Counties in regards to a lengthy car chase early Tuesday morning. An officer in the Salisbury Police Department attempted a routine traffic stop on Eric Carr, 18, and Clayton Butcher, 18, around 2:15 Tuesday morning. They did not stop, and a check of the plates revealed the car was stolen out of the state of Michigan. The two-hour pursuit took multiple law enforcement agencies through Chariton, Carroll, Livingston, Grundy, Mercer, and Putnam Counties.

The Chariton County Prosecutor has charged both men with tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Bond in that county is set at $15,000, cash only. The pair is also facing one count of tampering with a motor vehicle in Carroll County. Each man is held on $25,000, cash or surety, in that county. More charges are possible in other jurisdictions.
