Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Danielle Rogers has filed charges against a Richmond man in connection to a shooting at a home in the 800 block of East Lexington Street on Wednesday. Officers arrived shortly before 2:00 p.m. to find no one had been seriously wounded, according to a police report. Authorities said the victims refused medical transport and were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The shooting prompted a lock down in the Richmond School District and a brief manhunt. Police said the suspect, Landon Walker, 20, was arrested about one hour later in the 200 block of South Camden Street. Investigators have not determined the type of weapon used in the incident. However, multiple KMZU listeners said they believed it was a BB gun.
Walker was charged Thursday, May 23 with felony possession of a controlled substance, three counts of assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. He is also facing three misdemeanor charges, including unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of a shooting, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Walker is being held in the Ray County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
