Chautauqua in the Park will once again take place in Simpson Park on the first full weekend of September. Click to hear KMZU’s Mike Stone speak with Executive Director of the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce, Crystal Narr, on the need for volunteers.
Executive Director Narr wants the community and surrounding areas to know how they can help with the celebration.
“Of course it goes without saying an event with this scope definitely takes a lot of people to make sure that everything runs pretty flawlessly. We actually…take about a hundred and forty people to make sure that everything runs smoothly,” Narr said.
“We definitely encourage anyone that wants to be a part of the event, and give back particularly to the Chillicothe Community, to be a part of it, and volunteering is a great way to do that,” she adds.
Narr points out there are several different duties to sign-up for.
“Gate volunteer to trash duty to roaming the park and talking with vendors and different things, so a little bit of something for everyone,” she said.
“We do need to know actually by August 13th, so we can get their free t-shirts ordered. If they will just call us here at…the chamber of commerce, we would be happy to tell them what slots we still have available and get them signed up,” she concludes.
Vendors are also welcome to sign-up by visiting the Chamber’s website. Volunteers may call the Chamber at 660-646-4050.
