The Chillicothe Board of Education approved a first-grade grant at their meeting Tuesday night. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Superintendent Dr. Roger Barnes:
The grant comes from the Department of Conservation and is worth $1,127.
“This was submitted by Mrs. Nancy Noland, one of our first grade teachers,” said Barnes, “And this is for us to continue being a ‘Discover Nature School.’ It’s through the Department of Conservation. So this grant will help fund their activities, as well as two field trips. One to Indian Creek, and one to Shatto Dairy.”
The funds will be used in the current school year.
The Board also approved a vehicle lease agreement. Kline Leasing provides two minivans to the District.
“We use those for professional development opportunities for our teachers when they travel to those type of events, as well as any type of athletic or extracurricular supervision that we might need to send a supervisor to. So Kline Leasing agreed to lease us two vans for the cost of $1.”
The District previously had two vans leased from the company, but those have been replaced with newer vehicles.
