Press Release from Hedrick Medical Center
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (Aug. 28, 2013) — Hedrick Medical Center Emergency Department and the Chillicothe Fire Department are working together to raise money for breast cancer. They will be collecting donations with a “Boot Drive” fundraiser Sept. 6 – 8.
Chillicothe firefighters and Hedrick Emergency Department employees will take to the streets with boots in hand to collect donations from local residents. They will be posted at the intersections of Clay & Washington, and Park Lane & Washington on Sept. 6, 7, and 8, and will be easily identified by the pink T-shirts they will be wearing. These pink, breast cancer awareness shirts will also be available for sale for $16 from Bev Shaul at Hedrick Medical Center (660-707-4450) or Betty Atwell at the Chillicothe Fire Department (660-646-2139). All proceeds from the Boot Drive and T-shirt sales will be donated to Hope House, which will then distribute the funds to breast cancer patients for help with paying for treatments.
“We hope that when drivers pull up next to these firefighters and HMC employees with their boots out, they’ll dig deep, or even just empty out the spare change in their cup holders! Any and all donations are welcome,” said Bev Shaul, manager of Emergency Services at Hedrick Medical Center.
For more information on the boot drive or on how to purchase a T-shirt, call the Chillicothe Fire Department at 660-646-2139, or Bev Shaul at 660-707-4450.
