The 2013-2014 budget will be the focus of attention during the last few weeks of preparation.  “There is a big difference in that this year we have had to reduce our budget, ” said Holland, “This will impact areas from training to equipment to salaries and there will not be increases in hardly any departments.  As I went through the budget, I either maintained the same amount in most line items or I reduced them.  So, it’s a very conservative budget.”

The reason for the changes are easily identified when looking at the numbers.  “The sales tax revenue and other revenue flows, as well as the interest we receive from our bank accounts have been greatly reduced,” said Holland, “We just don’t have the revenue we had in previous years so we have to adjust.”

Tuesday’s session will get underway at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
