Chillicothe firefighters douse blaze at Hutchinson Cemetery early Thursday

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — A brush fire at a cemetery in Livingston County prompted a response form the Chillicothe Fire Department early Thursday morning.

A report from the Chillicothe Fire Department indicates two fire personnel were dispatched to Hutchinson Cemetery on LIV 320 around 1:40 a.m. Thursday.

When the crews arrived at the scene, a brush fire was identified that had spread form a burn pile in the cemetery. The blaze reportedly leaped to the timber forestry around the cemetery.

The report indicates a caretaker set a pile of leaves ablaze then left the fire unsupervised.

In total, roughly three acres of the timber on private property were left scorched.
