City of Warrensburg Contributes to Trail Project

The Johnson County Trails Coalition continues to move forward with their project for a complete hiking and biking trail between Warrensburg and Knob Noster.  According to officials, the city of Warrensburg is assisting in those efforts.  Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to city administrator Paula Hertwig- Hopkins:

“It’s a combination of entities that have put money together for two things,” said Hertwig-Hopkins,” The first is for the feasibility study to really establish the footprint and the actual trail route itself.  The second is to apply to the state for transportation non-modal money that’s left over from the fiscal year that’s now available.  Those funds would help us pay for, if not completely pay for, the first phase which is the engineering.”

The city’s contribution to the project was $5500.  It is unknown at this time if the city will make further financial contributions to the establishment of the trail.
