An investigation started on December 11th has culminated with the arrest of a Columbia man on Saturday.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force reports one of its undercover agents was engaged in email conversations with the suspect, who allegedly believed the officer to be a local 14-year-old boy.

The conversation then moved to text messages in which the 27-year-old male allegedly enticed and encouraged the decoy to meet him at a public place to eventually engage in sexual conduct. Shaun Michael Dierker was arrested on suspicion of enticement of a child and attempted statutory sodomy shortly after he arrived at the meeting point.

His arrest also included the seizure of a cell phone and two computers. Dierker was placed in the Boone County Jail to await a bond hearing.
