CHILLICOTHE, MO – A post by Chillicothe police informs residents of recent complaints regarding a potential phone scam.

Officers say, citizens have received calls consisting of an automated voice convincing the phone owner that a Verizon account has been suspended. The voice then asks for a PIN number and social security number. Police believe a phishing scam is attempting to access account information from important Verizon numbers. When officers attempted to call back, a message stated that the number was no longer in service.
