During the Monday night meeting the Carrollton City Council agreed to budget $12,000 for a new cooperative effort between the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development.  Mayor Kim McAuliffe cast the tie breaking vote in favor of the plan.

“I really think that they’re sort of intertwined,” he says “so we have a new board now and that board should monitor the efforts by the person for the chamber and economic development.”

The plan to budget that amount will come up for a review each year.  At that time McAuliffe says the board will decide what progress has been made.

“You might not see jobs come in but you can certainly go by how many contacts you’ve had.”

They are looking to Sharon Metz to head the joint effort.
