Couple Goes Missing on Salt Fork Creek

Two people were reported missing late last Thursday while on a float trip with family in Saline County.

41-year old Tina King reported to the Saline County Sheriff’s Department that her son, 21-year old Mathew Lyell and his girlfriend, 22-year old Elizabeth Thomas, all three of Marshall, did not arrive at the destination on their float and had not been seen for more than an hour.

A search was conducted by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Cooper County Fire Department’s water rescue unit. The couple was located near the Salt Fork Creek walking along Highway E in Saline County. According to the case report, the couple was safe and the search was discontinued when they were found late on the evening of June 28th.
