Court Appearance Scheduled in Arson Case

The plea/trial settings for two cases a Paola, Kansas resident is charged in will get underway Wednesday morning.  Gordon Simpson, 57, was charged with one count of arson after allegedly setting fire to a Sweet Springs Hotel Room.  He was later accused of charging at Saline County deputies as they opened his cell door.  He is facing one count of damage to a jail or jail property in that case.  Simpson will appear in a Saline County courtroom at 10:00 a.m.
