Court prepares for Benton County murder trial

BENTON COUNTY, Mo. – A pre-trial conference begins at 10:00 a.m. this  morning for a Lincoln, Missouri, resident charged with murder.

William Heffernan, 22, is accused in the January shooting death of Caleb Shephard, 27, of Lincoln. Benton County deputies were called to the shooting outside Heffernan’s trailer, in a mobile home park outside Lincoln, where they found the body of Shephard. Heffernan is charged with second degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with evidence.

The trial is docketed to begin the morning of November 14th.
