Crash Claims Columbia Woman’s Life

A Columbia woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Cooper County. The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. about ten miles west of Boonville on Interstate 70. According to the Highway Patrol, Heather Cole, 20, was eastbound on I-70 when she traveled through the median cable and into oncoming traffic. Investigators said she collided with a westbound tractor-trailer driven by Aleksandr Yefanov, 24, of California. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Sara Buxton, 20, also of Columbia, was flown to University Hospital with serious injuries.
