A Columbia child is dead after a two vehicle crash in Audrain County Saturday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a vehicle driven northbound on County Road 820, just north of Business 24, by Aaron Wormington, 34, of Columbia, was attempting to make a left hand turn onto a private drive. The Wormington vehicle was then struck by another northbound vehicle driven by Shawn Smith, 28, of Mexico, Mo., who was attempting to pass. That caused Wormington to lose control and the vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

Wormington suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Audrain Medical Center. His passenger, Jada Stafford, 12, was taken to Audrain Medical Center before being airlifted to University Hospital where she later died.
