Numerous accidents kept emergency crews busy Thursday morning.  A KMZU listener reported a jack-kniffed tractor-trailer on I-70 in Lafayette County at about 9:15 a.m.  According to the caller, the accident occurred at the Higginsville junction.

Snow and strong winds closed parts of Interstate 29 and made driving hazardous throughout northwestern Missouri on Thursday. State transportation officials shut down I-29 from St. Joseph to the Iowa border because of traffic accidents. Kansas City Power & Light reports about 32,000 scattered power outages in the area.

Drivers across the listening area are being asked to stay off the roadways.
